Arrest at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Tied to Prior Disney Resort Robbery-by-Snatching Case

🚔 A man was arrested at the BoardWalk Inn after allegedly snatching a Disney security officer’s notepad, an incident tied to a prior robbery-by-sudden-snatching case from earlier in the week. Both individuals were trespassed from Disney property.

What Happened

On February 8, 2026, Orange County deputies responded to 2100 Epcot Resorts Boulevard after receiving a call about a trespasser who had become physical with a Disney security officer and was believed to be involved in a prior crime.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered Devonte, Disney management, and security personnel standing together. Although no physical fight was occurring at that moment, deputies detained Devonte in handcuffs due to the nature of the call and officer-safety concerns.

As deputies attempted to secure him, Devonte reportedly tensed his arms and upper body and verbally protested being handcuffed. His girlfriend, who was nearby, began interfering verbally. When deputies attempted to separate the two to regain control of the scene, Devonte again resisted, prompting a deputy to pin him briefly against a vehicle while issuing loud verbal commands. The situation de-escalated shortly afterward.

Connection to Earlier Incident

Disney management informed deputies that Devonte was linked to an incident on February 5, 2026, at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. In that earlier case, security alleged Devonte forcibly took a security officer’s cellphone, demanded the officer unlock it, and required video of his vehicle to be deleted before returning the phone. By the time deputies arrived that day, the suspect had already left the property. The case was initially documented as a robbery by sudden snatching involving an unknown suspect.

On February 8, Disney management identified a vehicle on property matching the same description and license plate from the February 5 incident. The vehicle was located as it arrived at the BoardWalk Inn, prompting renewed contact with security.

Notepad Snatching at BoardWalk Inn

During the renewed contact, Disney security officer Angel stated he was writing down the vehicle’s tag information when Devonte approached and snatched the notepad from his hands, refusing to return it. The notepad was valued at approximately $2.00.

Disney Security manager Donald stated he personally observed Devonte take the notepad and place it in his pocket. Deputies later recovered the notepad from Devonte’s pants pocket, still containing the vehicle information.

Statements and Arrest

After being advised of his rights, Devonte agreed to speak with deputies. He initially denied wrongdoing, claiming the notepad was handed to him voluntarily. When questioned about the earlier cellphone incident, he changed his account multiple times before ultimately stating he was unsure and suggested the phone may have been handed to him.

Based on witness statements, physical evidence, and Devonte’s conflicting explanations, deputies arrested him on the following charges:

  • Robbery by Sudden Snatching
  • Resisting an Officer Without Violence

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) was notified and is continuing to investigate the earlier February 5 case.

Devonte was transported to the Booking and Release Center (BRC) without further incident. Both he and his female companion were trespassed from all Disney properties.

Why This Matters

This case highlights how prior unresolved incidents on Disney property can resurface when suspects return, as well as the role Disney security and investigations play in identifying repeat offenders and coordinating with law enforcement.
