🚨 Locker Scam at Aquatica Leads to Arrests A guest was tricked into using a “purchased” locker, then had her belongings stolen while in the park. ⚠️ This scam could happen at ANY theme park using lockers, including Disney.
🚨 Locker “Sharing” Offer Turns Into Theft
Two individuals were arrested at Aquatica on April 4 after deputies say they used a locker scheme to steal from an unsuspecting guest.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded inside the park’s locker area, an area many guests trust to safely store personal belongings while enjoying water attractions.
Deputies say the victim was approached by a woman who offered access to an already rented locker, providing a locker number and PIN.
The victim accepted.
Shortly after placing her belongings inside and heading to the lazy river, everything was gone.
🎥 What Investigators Say Happened
Surveillance footage reportedly showed:
- A woman in a neon bikini accessing the locker
- Removing a black purse and other belongings
- Leaving the area with a male accomplice
The two were later spotted leaving the property on a motorcycle and were stopped by deputies in the parking lot.
According to the report:
- The purse and valuables were taken from the shared locker
- Items included a Coach purse, debit card, military ID, vehicle keys, and designer footwear
- Some items were later discarded or hidden in nearby areas
Both suspects were arrested and face petit theft charges, along with an open container violation.
⚠️ The Bigger Issue: A Simple but Effective Scam
This case highlights a tactic that’s easy to overlook:
The “Locker” Setup
Instead of breaking into lockers, suspects:
- Rent a locker legitimately
- Offer to “give” it to another guest
- Provide the PIN
- Wait for the victim to leave
- Return and remove valuables
There’s no forced entry. No guessing codes. No obvious tampering.
From the victim’s perspective, everything appears normal, until it’s not.
🎢 Why This Matters for Disney Guests Too
While this incident happened at Aquatica, the setup is not unique to one park.
Locker systems at major Central Florida parks, including Disney water parks like Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, operate in similar ways:
- PIN-based access
- Self-service kiosks
- High guest turnover
- Distracted environments (swimming, rides, crowds)
That combination creates the same vulnerability.

🧠 What Guests Should Watch For
To avoid becoming a target:
- Never share a locker with someone you don’t know
- Do not accept pre-rented lockers from strangers
- Always rent your own locker directly through the park
- Keep high-value items (IDs, keys, cards) to a minimum when possible
- If something feels off, it probably is
