🚨 Aggravated Battery Arrest at Disney Cast Housing A dispute between roommates at Flamingo Crossings Village turned violent.
A late-night dispute between roommates at Disney’s Flamingo Crossings Village escalated into violence, leading to the arrest of a 59-year-old resident on a charge of aggravated battery, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 10:15 p.m. on March 10, 2026, to Flamingo Crossings Apartments East, located at 12290 Sandpiper Landing Way in Bay Lake, after reports of a battery inside one of the apartment units.
Flamingo Crossings Village serves as housing primarily for participants in the Disney College Program, though other Disney cast members and operational participants may also live in the complex.
When deputies arrived, they made contact with Sophia, who said she had been involved in an argument with her roommate. According to Sophia, tensions had been building between the two over shared living arrangements inside the apartment.
Sophia told deputies the argument began over the use of the stove while she was cooking. She said the roommate removed the pan she had been using and placed it on Sophia’s bed inside their shared living space. Sophia said that when she walked into the room afterward, she was struck in the back with an unknown object. She told deputies she pushed her roommate in response, and the two began exchanging punches before separating.
Deputies then spoke with the other resident, whose identity is withheld under Marsy’s Law, Florida’s constitutional protections for crime victims.
The victim provided a different account of the confrontation. Through a Japanese language interpreter, she told deputies the relationship between the two roommates had been tense that day. She said that after moving the pan into the bedroom, Sophia became upset, picked up the pan, still filled with food, and walked back into the kitchen.
According to the victim’s statement, Sophia then raised the pan with both hands and struck her in the face, causing food to spill and splatter across the kitchen walls.
Deputies noted that the victim had visible injuries to her face, arms, and fingers, including cuts, bruising, and swelling that were consistent with her account of the incident. Deputies also observed food stains on her clothing and food splatter inside the apartment, which further matched the description of events.
Photos of the injuries, the pan allegedly used in the attack, and the food splatter inside the kitchen were documented and uploaded into evidence.
The victim was treated at the scene by Orange County Fire Rescue and told deputies she feared for her safety during the altercation. She indicated she wishes to pursue charges and is willing to testify in court.
Sophia later reported chest pain during the investigation and was transported to AdventHealth Celebration for evaluation before being taken into custody.
Based on the investigation, deputies determined that Sophia intentionally struck the victim with a pan, which investigators classified as a deadly weapon when used in that manner, resulting in an arrest for Aggravated Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm (Florida Statute 784.045).
Sophia was later booked into the Orange County Jail system following the incident.
The case highlights how conflicts inside shared housing environments, such as those at Flamingo Crossings Village, where multiple residents often share apartments, can quickly escalate when tensions between roommates go unresolved.
